At Amentara, we believe that sacred medicine begins long before it reaches your hands. Every mushroom, petal, and root we share is part of a much larger story — one of families, cultures, and traditions around the world.
Our sourcing philosophy is simple: when the people who grow and harvest our plants thrive, the medicine carries that same integrity forward.
A Global Family Network
“We work with over 40 individuals, family units, or businesses across the globe to ensure we get the best product to our customers at the best pricing. Our suppliers generally make more money in a year than they would make in 5 years working a standard job in their respective country. It’s important to me to not only find the best products at the best prices, but ensure that we’re supporting our suppliers and giving them opportunities they would not find elsewhere.”
From the forests of Siberia and Eastern Europe, to the rivers of Thailand and Sri Lanka, to the high plateaus of South Africa, our sourcing network connects dozens of families and small local businesses who share a passion for ethical, sustainable harvests.
We don’t buy from faceless distributors — we build relationships.
Amanita: Family Traditions in Siberia and Eastern Europe
Our Amanita network began with small family clusters who have been foraging mushrooms for generations.
These families harvest with care, following the natural cycles of the land — ensuring that both the forest and the fungi continue to flourish.
We pay fair rates that provide life-changing income in rural areas, helping families preserve their way of life while sharing their craft with the world.
Blue Lotus: Gentle Hands from Thailand & Sri Lanka
Our Blue Lotus comes from trusted family cooperatives in Thailand and Sri Lanka, where the flowers are hand-harvested from clean tropical ponds at dawn — the traditional hour of bloom.
We’ve worked with many of these families for years, creating stability and mutual growth through long-term partnerships that value both craftsmanship and community.
Kanna: Supporting Indigenous Partnerships
Our Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) comes through a trusted connection with our friend Alex from Mama Kanna, who works directly with indigenous South African tribes — the traditional stewards of this sacred plant.
This ensures that the harvest remains ethical, sustainable, and respectful of the cultures that have used Kanna for centuries as a tool for joy, connection, and balance.
Our Promise
Ethical sourcing isn’t a marketing buzzword for us — it’s the heart of how we operate.
By paying fairly and building real relationships, we help preserve traditional knowledge and support families who have turned their local crafts into lasting livelihoods.
When you buy from Amentara, you’re not just receiving the world’s most carefully curated botanicals —
