Two Ways to Make Blue Lotus Gummies at Home (Simple vs. Bougie)

Blue Lotus has been steeped, smoked, and soaked into wine since the days of the Nile. It didn’t need a lab to be revered. But if you’re going to bring the ritual into your own kitchen, you might as well do it right… whether “right” means fast and clean, or slow and reverent.

We put together two versions. One is for people who want a consistent gummy without babysitting a pot for three hours. The other is for people who think the ritual is the point, and want to pull every layer out of the flower themselves.

Both land you in the same place: about 64 gummies, roughly 100mg of extract each. How you get there is where the two paths split.

The Simple Version: Clean, Consistent, Scalable

This is the version for people who want the same gummy every single time. No guesswork, no waiting days for an alcohol soak to finish its business. Just a 10:1 powder extract, warm water, and a gummy mix that already knows what it’s doing.

What you’ll need (makes ~64 gummies):

  • 1 bag Magical Butter Gummy Mix
  • Blue Lotus 10:1 extract powder
  • Warm water (to dissolve the extract)
  • MCT oil
  • Sunflower lecithin

A quick note before you start: your mold size and how much liquid your gummy mix calls for will vary, so there’s no single “right” amount of extract powder to use. Aim for somewhere in the 50mg-500mg range per gummy. Too little and you won’t feel much of anything. Too much and you’ll start fighting the taste and the texture, since extract powder doesn’t disappear into the mix for free. Start conservative, do a test batch, and adjust from there.

How it comes together:

Melt your gummy mix per the instructions, keeping the heat moderate. This isn’t a step to rush or scorch.

While that’s warming, dissolve your extract powder into warm water. Stir until it’s fully suspended. This is the step that actually matters. Get it evenly dissolved now, and the rest is smooth sailing.

Pull the gummy mix off the heat and fold in your dissolved extract, MCT oil, and lecithin. Mix thoroughly for a full 1-2 minutes. Don’t shortcut this part either.

Pour into molds, let them set, and you’re done. A batch of gummies, dosed the way you dialed it in, every batch as consistent as your measuring is.

The Bougie Version: Full-Spectrum, Full Ritual

This one isn’t about speed. It’s for the person who wants to work with the whole plant, not just a powder someone else already processed. Five lotus varieties, two separate extraction methods, and a finished gummy that carries what people describe as a smoother, more rounded, more “full-spectrum” feel.

What you’ll need (makes ~64 gummies):

The lotus blend:

  • Raw lotus, a mix of Blue, White, Red, Pink, and Egyptian

The extracts:

  • An alcohol extract (your primary)
  • An oil extract (secondary, MCT-based)

The base:

  • 1 bag gummy mix
  • Warm water (to loosen the alcohol extract)
  • Extra MCT oil
  • Sunflower lecithin

Same rule as the Simple Version applies here, just with an extra variable: how much raw lotus you start with determines how concentrated your reduced extract ends up, which then determines your final dose. There’s no universal weight that works across every mold and every reduction. Aim for a finished gummy somewhere in the 50mg-500mg range. Weak enough that it still tastes and sets like a gummy, strong enough that you can actually feel it. Test a small batch before you commit raw flower to a full run.

How it comes together:

Start the alcohol extract first, since it needs the most patience. Soak your lotus blend in alcohol for 24 to 72 hours, strain it, then reduce it down into a thick concentrate. This step is doing most of the heavy lifting for the final experience, so don’t rush the soak.

While that’s working, build your oil extract. Simmer the lotus gently in MCT oil for 2-4 hours on low heat, then strain.

When both extracts are ready, melt your gummy mix. Take your reduced alcohol extract, add warm water, and stir until it loosens and blends evenly. This is the critical step, mirroring the Simple Version’s dissolving stage, except now you’re working with something you built from raw flower instead of a powder.

Pull everything off the heat and combine: the dissolved alcohol extract, the oil extract, the extra MCT oil, and the lecithin. Mix thoroughly for at least 1-2 minutes.

Pour into molds, let set, and you’ve got a batch of gummies carrying a full-spectrum lotus profile that no powder extract can fully replicate.

That target range is wide on purpose. Your mold, your gummy mix, and your extract strength all move the math, so there’s no single number that works for everyone. Land on the low end for something mellow enough to share, the high end for something you actually feel, and test a small batch before you commit to a full run.

Which One Is Actually Right for You

Neither version is the “correct” one. The Simple Version is for people who want the ritual without the labor, a reliable gummy they can make on a random Tuesday. The Bougie Version is for people who want the labor to be the ritual, who like the idea of soaking, straining, and reducing something down with their own hands before it ever touches a mold.

If three days of soaking sounds like a chore, start Simple. If it sounds like the whole point, go Bougie.

And if you’d rather skip the molds altogether and let us handle the extraction, we’ve already done both versions of this work for you.
